Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Medical Social Worker to support patients and their families by providing psychosocial care, counseling, and assistance with healthcare-related social needs. The role focuses on patient advocacy, emotional support, and coordination with clinical teams to ensure holistic patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Patient & Family Support:
Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
Assist patients in coping with illness, hospitalization, and treatment-related stress.
Educate patients and caregivers about available support services and resources.
Care Coordination & Advocacy:
Work closely with doctors, nurses, and administrative teams to address patient social and emotional needs.
Assist patients in accessing financial assistance schemes, insurance support, and government healthcare programs.
Facilitate discharge planning and post-treatment care coordination.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate case records, counseling notes, and reports as per hospital and regulatory guidelines.
Support NABH, quality audits, and patient welfare documentation.
Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of patient information.
Community & Awareness Activities:
Participate in patient education programs, awareness camps, and outreach activities.
Coordinate with NGOs, community organizations, and support groups when required.
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree in Medical Social Work / Social Work (MSW).
1–3 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
Experience in oncology or critical care settings will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and counseling skills.
High level of empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Good documentation and communication skills.
Willingness to work in shifts and handle emotionally sensitive situations.
