Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Medical Social Worker to support patients and their families by providing psychosocial care, counseling, and assistance with healthcare-related social needs. The role focuses on patient advocacy, emotional support, and coordination with clinical teams to ensure holistic patient care.


Key Responsibilities

Patient & Family Support:

  • Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

  • Assist patients in coping with illness, hospitalization, and treatment-related stress.

  • Educate patients and caregivers about available support services and resources.


Care Coordination & Advocacy:

  • Work closely with doctors, nurses, and administrative teams to address patient social and emotional needs.

  • Assist patients in accessing financial assistance schemes, insurance support, and government healthcare programs.

  • Facilitate discharge planning and post-treatment care coordination.


Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate case records, counseling notes, and reports as per hospital and regulatory guidelines.

  • Support NABH, quality audits, and patient welfare documentation.

  • Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of patient information.


Community & Awareness Activities:

  • Participate in patient education programs, awareness camps, and outreach activities.

  • Coordinate with NGOs, community organizations, and support groups when required.


Qualifications & Experience
  • Master’s degree in Medical Social Work / Social Work (MSW).

  • 1–3 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.

  • Experience in oncology or critical care settings will be an added advantage.


Skills & Competencies
  • Strong interpersonal and counseling skills.

  • High level of empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Good documentation and communication skills.

  • Willingness to work in shifts and handle emotionally sensitive situations.
